Trade shows are an important part of our overall branding and marketing strategy: our sales force approaches them with a great deal of enthusiasm and Edwards commits considerable resources to ensure their success. You'll have ample opportunity to showcase your own creativity as you envision, design, and execute a focused message in each venue. Your mission will be to create visibility, promote partnering, and generate interest in Edwards products and R&D expertise in 18 to 20 shows throughout the year (you'll attend a little more than half). This challenging role calls for a broad range of capabilities, as you will mange the shows from top to bottom, including logistics, creative, budgeting, travel and accommodations, and more. You'll need to modify existing processes and create new ones to manage the unique aspects of each show.

To be a good fit for this role you'll need at least eight years of experience in "client-side" convention planning, including implementing processes to streamline and improve execution. We're looking for a professional with demonstrated success in coordinating all aspects of trade shows, from clarifying the message to ensuring that the right number of power strips is on hand. You'll also need a dynamic personality and a proven ability to coordinate among multiple internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including managing expectations, providing solutions, and balancing a collaborative approach with the right measure of assertiveness.

More About Your Role

Reporting to our Director of Brand Management and Promotions, you'll assume leadership of a well-organized national trade show schedule. At the same time, the success of the program will depend upon you assuming full ownership of each show, whether you attend or not. While you will need to delegate many of the details to vendors and others, you'll also need to ensure that every detail is executed completely, accurately, and on time.

Your specific activities will include:
  • Planning, coordinating, and executing all national and some medical meetings and conventions. You also will plan and coordinate regional conventions and assist in the planning of international conventions.
  • Planning and implementing product exhibits at conventions, exhibits sales conferences, and symposia, and arranging for specific events at national conventions. In addition you may participate in international conventions.
  • Directing exhibit design programs in the scope of the communications message to target and develop turn key programs which involves direction & development of both graphics and collateral materials, from concept to completion, advertising, promotions & media; working with vendors to arrange space, literature, hotels, equipment rental, and set-up and dismantling of the exhibit; and planning and coordinating the routing of exhibits shipped for the convention program.
  • Managing and executing projects and marketing plans intended to maximize company exposure and produce sales leads. This will include developing objectives and strategies for the overall effectiveness and execution of marketing events.
  • Working with franchise management and Brand Directors on the development and detailed management of budgets and activities related to each individual convention or meeting.
  • Negotiating contracts and managing relationships with outside vendors, and preparing ROI evaluations of events.
  • Generating reports providing information on cost-per contact, audience profiles and representatives' comments. You also may participate in the selection of which conventions are selected for participation.
  • Managing payment of exhibit fees for convention booth space, secure housing, and badge registration for Edwards's attendees.
  • Managing, maintaining, and recommending continuous improvements for all booth properties and convention assets. We'll also look to you to remain current on new trends in exhibit design.
  • Managing the convention lead generation process and ensuring distribution to the sales analyst function for tracking within a timely manner.
  • Serving as consultant to management and special external spokesperson for the organization on major matters pertaining to its policies, plans, and objectives.
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of products, markets, and customers.
You can expect to travel nationally up to 25% of the time, but the number of days you travel in each month will vary; the schedule is busiest in spring and fall.
